Ever had a Feeling of Emptiness as you watch it all disappear?
Your Dreams
Your Business
Your Income
Like a dam breaking, suddenly the walls holding your beautiful lake full of all the assets and resources in your life have crumbled, draining everything you thought would be forever. Staring at the bottom of a pit you never imagined you would see, you feel hopeless in the sudden emptiness.
Life can change so fast. Even though we repeatedly hear about it happening to others, we still rarely believe it will happen to us. It is something we put off until someday until that someday becomes today. We are not prepared because it is something we never planned on.
When life suddenly changes due to an injury, company change, illness, economic changes, we suddenly realize we have the following:
Lack of Assets to pull fast cash from
Lack of Resources coming other generating assets
Lack of Reservoirs holding other assets
This is not the time to be upset with yourself for failing to plan.
This is the time to be uplifting with yourself by planning now.
“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—
the great locust and the young locust,
the other locusts and the locust swarm[b]—
my great army that I sent among you.
You will have plenty to eat, until you are full,
and you will praise the name of the Lord your God,
who has worked wonders for you;
never again will my people be shamed.”
Joel 2:25-26
There is a statistic that states Millionaires will go broke 3.5 times. When I read this, I looked beyond the brokenness of a millionaire who has fallen repeatedly. I see a person, just like me and just like you, who repeatedly got back up after the dam holding their resources broke too. They rebuilt over and over again, never giving up.
Even with the realization behind this statistic, it is no doubt still hard. Trust me, I have been there and currently seeing that when my new husband became disabled one month after our wedding.
Feeling the emptiness inside
Seeing the emptiness in our accounts
Fearing the future
In verse 25, the word Repay was translated from the Hebrew word Šālēm with the meanings:
To be finished
To be completed
To be at peace.
When life has suddenly been destroyed and emptied by devastation like locusts radically devouring a field, God is reminding us to not be ashamed because He will repay, make whole, refill all that is lost until we are full.
